Motifcity.com is owned and operated by Mark F Johnston, a passionate Motif evangelist who has been using the instrument since the day the original "classic" version was introduced. The web site was originally created to support the two books Mark has written about the Motif called Commanding the Yamaha Motif volumes one and two. Despite some obvious shortcomings of the current XS series keyboards (its screen, it's slow screen redraws, limited expansion capabilities via plugin boards, its overall latency, its lack of a dedicated undo button, et al), we are of the opinion the Yamaha Motif remains the most potent and beautiful-sounding keyboard workstation in existence. While we remain afvid fans of vsti's (virtiual instruments for the computer such as Omnisphere), a side by side comparison will reveal the Motif XS's sound quality is considerably warmer and fatter than the majority of software plugins out there. We see the Motif being a board to reckno with for many years to come, and we plan to be along for the ride, every step of the way.
Mark and his wife Rebecca have been married for 16 years, and have two teenagers who occupy a high percentage of their time. :) Mark is also the President & CEO of a budding digital media company called Bolero Innovations Inc (www.boleroinc.com), an aspiring graphic artist (http://boleroinc.deviantart.com/), the owner of a sample/loops site (www.loopsandthings.com - coming soon!), and an impassioned follower of Christ, singer and keyboardist who still dreams of a releasing a popular tune one day.
